New Apple iPod Nano ad - 1234 by Feist

The new iPod nano may soon begin to see some bans in places that many would want to use it the most — the gym. This is the first report I have seen that specifically mentioned the new iPod nano, however the reasoning has been given before with other devices such as cell phones.
Anyway, according to the Pioneer Press, gyms in the Twin Cities area have begun banning the new nano in certain areas due to the video recording capability.
“And with the new Nano fitting this category, its use in locker rooms for any reason is forbidden, said spokesman Jason Thunstrom. Discerning whether someone is taking video or just queuing up a music mix can be difficult.
The new Nano’s use for music listening would be tolerated in workout areas, Thunstrom added, but shooting videos with it while exercising is a no-no.”
All things considered, I cannot help but laugh a little because in addition to the video camera, another feature that was welcomed was the addition of the FM radio. For those unfamiliar with a gym setup, often the equipment such as treadmills are facing televisions and those require you to tune in with an FM radio to listen. Now the new iPod nano has the FM radio making is quite a bit more useful for gym rats, however the video camera may have killed the radio.
Thankfully though, it seems that this particular gym has not entirely said no to the nano, but is trying to restrict its use to certain areas. Of course, there will most likely be that one person that is bound to spoil it for everyone. Remind me again why the nano needed a video camera?
